Richard Lee Boatright, age 71 of Sandoval, died November 19, 2009 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan hospital in Centralia. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, spending all his life in Sandoval and retiring as a metal assorter in 1994.

Mack Arthur Curtis, age 68, of Sandoval, passed away Saturday morning, November 14th, at his home in Sandoval. Curtis owned Mac Daddy's Music Store in Salem and had played background music for Conway Twitty and George Jones as well as with the Louisiana Hayride for Elvis Presley.

Rev. Coy Sampson, age 82 of Salem, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem. He was a retired minister and mechanic.

Virgil Cox of Louisiana, Special friends Rebecca Finley and Patricia Hartley. 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.

Marge Frimel, age 88 of Knoxville, TN died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee.

Hazel E. Schlais, age 85 of Salem died November 19, 2009 at Salem Township Hospital. She was a retired school teacher, LPN and a World War II Army Veteran.

Delbert C. Miller age 83 of Flora passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the Odin Healthcare Center in Odin.

Josephine S. Davis, age 87 of Centralia died Monday, November 16, 2009 at Centralia Fireside House in Centralia. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid bowler.

Dean W. Langin, age 91, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, November 14th, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. 

Funeral services for Dean Langin will be held at eleven Tuesday morning at the First Presbyterian Church in Centralia.  Interment at the Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation from ten until the time of the service on Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund and will be received at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years Geraldine Simmons of Centralia. 

Mary Spenner, age 80 of Centralia died Friday, November 13, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Davis D.J. Jones, age 46, of Centralia passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  He was employed at Gilster Mary Lee in Centralia.

Gale F. Petrea, age 69, of Centralia died at 7:10 A.M. on Thursday, November 12th at his home in Centralia.

Ervin H. Spenner, age 79 of Centralia died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Odin Health Care Center in Odin.

Howard Bundy, 96 years old, of Centralia, passed away on Sunday, November 8th at Centralia Manor in Centralia.  He was an educator who started teaching in one and two room schools in Jefferson and Marion Counties, who later became Principal of Franklin School from 1944 to 1974 and helped organize the Kaskaskia Reading Council.   He was also past Commander and a life member of the American Legion and past president and life member of the Marion County Retired Teachers Association.

Opal Royer, age 93 of Salem passed away Saturday at Doctor's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was a housewife.

Patricia Ann Parker, 86 years old of Springfield, formerly of Centralia, passed away on Sunday, November 8th at Regency Nursing Home in Springfield. She had taught music for many years at Centralia area schools.

Frank Muehlhausen, 74 years old, of Salem, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 7th at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. He was a retired railroad trainman for Norfolk and Western Railroad.

Robert 'Bob' Brown, age 74, of Centralia died Saturday, November 7th, at St. Louis University Hospital.  He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 653 and American Federation of Musician Local 798.

Ray G. Manske, 74 years old, of Centralia, passed away on Saturday, November 7th at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Matthew Patrick, Jr, age 67 of Centralia passed away November 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Effie Lorean Vaughn, age 84 of Centralia passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia. She worked at Hollywood Brands for 30 years and then Little Fuse for 15 years, both in Centralia.

Robert Joy Rogers, age 88 of Mesa, Arizona - formerly of the Iuka and Odin area - passed away on November 3, 2009.  He was a retired B.O. Telegrapher, Veteran of WWII and enjoyed playing and singing with the Howe Quartet.

Robert Rogers will be cremated, followed by burial at the National Veterans Cemetery in Cave Creek, Az. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Odin Baptist Church.

Rogers is survived by his wife of 68 years, Verdena; Sister in law: Gayla Faye Williams of New York; Two sons: Tom and wife Vicki of San Tan Valley, Az. and Bill and wife Wanda of Chandler, Az; Daughter: Merry Jo Adkins of Mesa, and a Son in Law Ernie Adkins. Eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson also survive, as do numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve Hanna, age 56 of Norman Park, Georgia passed away at the Hospice House in Leceanto, Florida. 

Celebration of Life  services for Steven Hanna will be held at two Sunday afternoon, November 8th, at Trinity Baptist Church in Moultrie, Georgia, with graveside services Saturday November 28th at 11:00 AM in Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy.  Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice of Moultrie, GA, Hospice House of Citrus County, Lecanto, FL or the Alamo Club in Moultrie, GA.

Steve Hanna leaves behind his little earthly angel, Brianna, age 11.  She was the constant light of his life.  He also leaves his older angel Stephanie Reid of Texas and four grandchildren: Hunter, Logan, Keenan and Saylor.  Also surviving are his sister Jan of Lecanto, Florida, brother Richard of Rogers, Arkansas, nieces Dreama, Kimberly, Dea, Jana, Kissy, and Shiny and one nephew Rick.  Lifelong friends Barney Craig, Allen Yates and Stanley Carroll have been beside him through all his battles and triumphs of life.  Also serving him were his brothers and sisters in AA and in his final journey, the Angels of Hospice.

Wayne O'Dell, age 92 of Centralia, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 while visiting his grandsons in California. He was a retired Stationary Engineer at Warren G. Murray Developmental Center and enjoyed playing golf and the clarinet.

Memorial services for Wayne O'Dell will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, November 8th at the Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia. Shirley Mae (Flippen) Willis, age 72 of Chicago, Illinois died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at International Village Nursing Home in Chicago.

Maggie Larue Moss, age 63, of Centralia, died Wednesday, October 28th, at her home in Centralia. 

Funeral services for Maggie Moss will be held at one Saturday afternoon at Rick's Chapel AME Zion Church.  Friends may call from 6:30 to nine Friday night at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia and from eleven until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. 

Survivors include son:  John and wife Gwen Adams of Dolton, daughter:  Tina and husband Lonnie Turnispeed Senior of St. Louis, mother:  Cora Edmundson of Decatur, brothers:  James and wife Mary Hayes of Champaign and Anthony Hayes of St. Louis, and sisters:  Thelma Johnson of South Haven, Mississippi and Sheila and husband Herb Horne of Detroit, Michigan. 

Elizabeth Shoemaker, age 63 of Salem passed away on November 4, 2009 at her home. She loved her family, was an artist, enjoyed playing the guitar. She was a homemaker.

Elizabeth Shoemaker was cremated and services will be held at a later date. The Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Farina Cemetery.

Gene Wealand, age 76 of Hoyleton passed away on August 20, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. His spouse, Dorothy Wealand, age 80 of Hoyleton passed away October 31, 2009 at Centralia Manor in Centralia.

Virginia L. Buchele, age 92 of Boulder, passed away on November 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Margaret Besant, age 100, of Centralia died early Monday morning, November 2nd, at Centralia Manor in Centralia.

Betty Jean Borton, age 83, from Xenia died Monday November 2nd at Clay County Hospital in Flora.  She was a  homemaker.

Orena Ann Robinson, 105 years of age, died November 2nd at Twin Willow Nursing Center in Salem.  She was a retired teacher from Iuka Grade School in 1973.  Orena was also a former Pink Lady for Salem Township Hospital. 

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 Wednesday morning at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Iuka.  Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetary.   Visitation hours will be from 10:00 AM until the service hour on Wednesday, November 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church.   Memorials may be made to the Salem or Iuka Trinity Lutheran Church and will be received by the Rankin Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur C. "Bud" "A.C." Harder, age 79 of Wentzville Missouri, formerly of Centralia and Jefferson City, Missouri.  Arthur died Saturday afternoon, October 31st, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO.   He served his country in Korea and was a member of the VFW.

Maggie Little, age 72 of Centralia passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Funeral services for Maggie Little will be held Tuesday, November 3rd, 2 p.m. at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. the day of the funeral at the funeral home.

Lesta Alderson, age 95 of Salem, passed away on Friday afternoon, October 31st, at the Odin Care Center.  She was retired from the Brown Shoe Factory.

Funeral services for Lesta Alderson will be held at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be from six to eight Monday night at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.  Memorials may be made to the Mexico Mission Trip at Evergreen Christian Church.

Vera Jane McDaniel, age 83 of Centralia passed away on November 1, 2009 at her home in Centralia.

Graveside services for Vera Jane McDaniel will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, November 3rd, at the Hillcrest Memorial Park. There will be no public visitation, friends are asked to meet at the cemetery and memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Vera Jane McDaniel is survived by sons: Williams J. McDaniel and wife Carla of Centralia, and Robert J. McDaniel of Centralia; Daughter: Linda and husband Ray McDaniel of Centralia. Four grandchildren survive in addition to a step grandsons and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Elwood Wayne Biege, age 66,, of Alma died Saturday, October 31st, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.  He was a machine operator at American Rubber Company. 

A memorial service will be held by the family from five to seven Monday night at the Kinmundy Christian Church.  There will be no visitation.

Dora J. Kaufman, age 73, of Flora, died Sunday, October 25th, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  She worked for 40 years for the Farmers Home Administration before retiring in 1994.

Funeral services for Dora Kaufman will be  held at ten Saturday morning at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Burial in the Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.  Visitation will be from six to eight Friday evening at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorials may be made to the Clay County Cancer Support and First Christian Church in Flora.

Nellis M. (Riley) Smith, age 89 of Dix, died Tuesday, October 27th, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She worked in the circuit clerk's office until retiring and earlier worked for Stroup Construction Company.

Donald Webster, age 81, of Salem, died Tuesday, October 27th, at his home.  He was a City of Salem Water Department Foreman.

Donald Webster was cremated and there will be no services.  Memorials may be made to the VFW of Centralia and may be left at the  Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, who is in charge of arrangements. 

Survivors include two daughters:  Sonja Myers and Judy Webster both of Centralia and two sisters:  Berta Webster and former wife Berta 'Moller' Webster. 

Ellen J. Arnold, age 91, of Salem, died Monday, October 26th, at Salem Township Hospital.  She was a cook and housewife.

Funeral services for Ellen Arnold will be held at one Friday afternoon at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial in the 1880 Cemetery.  Visitation will be from six to eight Thursday night.  Memorials may be made to the 1880 Cemetery.

Donald 'Cotton' Evans, age 78, of Odin, died Wednesday afternoon, October 28th, at his home in Odin. 

Funeral services for Donald 'Cotton' Evans will be held at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia at 11 Friday morning.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 Friday morning.  Memorials may be made to SSM Good Samaritan Hospice. 

Survivors include wife:  Wanda Evans of Odin, daughter:  Susan Morrison of rural Odin and daughter:  Joy Evans of Odin. 

Virginia L. Luttrell, age 92, of Centralia, died Monday, October 26th, at the Odin Care Center.  She grew up and lived in Odin and moved to Florida for 25 years before returning to Centralia in 1997, was a homemaker and worked in the laundry at St. Mary's Hospital for a few years.

Celebration of Life Service for Virginia Luttrell will be conducted at ten Thursday morning at the Bethel Baptist Church in rural Odin.  Burial will be in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin.  Visitation will be from five to eight Wednesday night at the Day Funeral Home in Sandoval and from eight to ten Thursday morning at the Bethel Baptist Church.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Virginia Fleming, age 91, of Centralia, died Tuesday, October 27th, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  She was a retired beautician. 

Graveside funeral services for Virginia Fleming will be held at eleven Thursday morning at the Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia.  There will be no visitation.  The Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia is in charge of arrangements.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of her daughter Jane Hankins and will be received at the funeral home. 

Survivors include daughter:  Joan Nollman and husband Lee of Centralia, four grandchildren:  Beth and husband Aaron Cole, Dee Hankins, Stephanie and husband Troy Johnson, and Scott and wife Kristen Nollman, seven great grandchildren:  Chris and wife Brooke Johnson, Ashley Johnson and special friend Matt Palm, Alee Nollman, Branden Schneider, Cameron Nollman, Kaelyn Johnson, and Haden Hankins, great great grandson:  Jax Johnson, several nieces and nephews and special friends.  

Molly Cooper, age eight months, died Sunday afternoon at Salem Township Hospital.  She was being raised by Jennifer Carr Cape of Salem.

Funeral arrangements for Molly Cooper will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem at 10:30 a.m., with burial in the East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled at the church from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Molly Cooper is survived by Mother Jennifer Cape and special friend Beau Frazier of Salem; Brother: Ryan Cape of Salem; Sister: Teyah Cape of Salem; Special Sister: Courtney Frazier of Salem; Special Brother: Blake Frazier of Salem; Grandparents: Tom and Margaret Carr of Salem; Aunt: Andrea Scandrett and Husband John of Scipio, IN; Seven Cousins and two Very Special Friends: Danny and Kathy Klucker also survive. Her biological parents were Mona Cooper and David Hill.

June Jones age 78 of Centralia passed away January 28th in Toledo, Ohio.

A Memorial Service is planned for 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.  Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. 

June Jones is survived by a brother Richard Ammerman and wife Jackie of Toledo, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Francis Eugene Sharp, age 85, of Centralia, died Thursday, October 22nd, at Centralia Manor.

Wilma Jewell (Brackett) Eveland, 86, of Dix, died Wednesday morning, October 21st, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Vicki Ann Brandt, age 72, of Sandoval, died Wednesday morning, October 21st, at her home in Sandoval. 

Following cremation, private services will be held for Vicki Ann Brandt at the Posey Cemetery in Posey.  The Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia is in charge of arrangements.

Herman Richard Hellmeyer, age 71, of Centralia, died Tuesday, October 20th, at his home in Centralia.  He was a welder by trade, enjoyed carpentry, furniture and cabinet making.

Vinis B. Murray, age 72, of rural Odin died on Wednesday, October 21st, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  He worked for the Patoka Elevator and Illinois Department of Transportation in Highway Maintenance, farmed, and served as a Carrigan Township Trustee for three years.

Klay (K.G.) Bundy, 37 of Centralia, died Monday night, October 19th, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.

Helen Lucille Potter, age 84, of Odin, died Tuesday, October 20th, at her home in Centralia.  She was retired from Littlefuse and had earlier worked for Hoyleton Children's Home and during World War II she had helped build B-27 Bombers.

Irene Kozuszek, age 85, of Sandoval, died Wednesday, October 21st, at Friendship Manor in Nashville.  She was a licensed Real Estate Agent and Licensed Cosmetologist, owned several businesses, retired from Wheaton Plastics in Centralia and then worked many years at the Children's Activity Center in Sandoval. 

Celebration of Life Service for Irene Kozuszek will be held at 11:30 Friday from the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval.  Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Sandoval.  Visitation will be from eight until 11:15 Friday morning at the Day Funeral Home in Sandoval.  A Rosary Prayer Service will be conducted at ten Friday morning during the visitation.

Survivors include daughters and sons in law:  Bernice Beard of Patoka, Mary Ann Kujawa and husband Joseph of Nashville, Mary Alice Bailey and husband Bill of Savannah, Georgia, Arlene Berry of Carlyle, Pinky Hollenkamp and husband Charles of Carlyle, Teresa Resch and husband Brian of Rome, Georgia, brother:  Matthew Liszewski of O'Fallon, Missouri, sister:  Sally Delia of O'Fallon, Missouri, daughter-in-law:  Sharon Kuzuszek of DuBois, sister-in-law:  Mary Kozuszek of DuBois, 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Jack D. Gill Sr., age 71, of Salem passed away October 17th, 2009 at St. Louis University Hospital.  Jack was a retired laborer.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning, October 22nd, at 10:30  at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.  Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 on the morning of October 22nd.  Memorial: American Heart Association or the Lung Association.

Jack Gill Senior is survived by son: Jeff Gill and wife Renee of Mt. Vernon and sister: Velma Sons of Flora.  Also 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Raymond Telford, age 92 of Centralia, died Saturday, October 17, at Fireside House.  He was retired form the Illinois Central Railroad, where he worked as a locomotive crane engineer. 

Funeral services for Raymond Telford will be held at eleven Wednesday morning at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia.  Friends may call from five to eight Tuesday evening and eight until eleven Wednesday morning at the funeral home.  Memorial donations in his honor may be made to hospice or to the Humane Society.  They will be received at the funeral home.

Survivors include son:  Dwight Telford and wife Anita of O'Fallon, stepson:  Steve Smith and wife Charlene of Centralia, grandson:  Jeffrey Telford of O'Fallon, sister:  Bonnie Jean Masor of Centralia, seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
